In addition to regular meetings, Troop 14 has many special events: camping trips, day hikes, community service opportunities, fund raisers, cookouts, and more. We've listed most of them below to give you an idea what we're up to throughout the year. (Actual events and months may change from year to year.)

September

Advancement Camp

A day of fun and training put on by the San Francisco District to help scouts work on their merit badges and rank advancement. For more information their website is here.

October

Fall Family Camping

This year we’ll be at Wente, a private campground outside Willis that is run by the San Francisco district BSA especially for scouts. It includes merit badge classes, a lake for swimming, boating, and fishing, a rifle range, and cliffs for supervised climbing. For more information on facilities, instruction, and additional fees for certain merit badges, take a look at their website.

Fall Backpacking

The kickoff campout for the year’s backpacking program. Typically this will be a short hike into the chosen site, camp over one night, then hike back out.

November

Fall Scout Camping

This one is just for the scouts, and we usually hold it at Del Valle, a regional public campground outside Livermore. Facilities include campgrounds, a picnic area, and a lake for swimming, fishing, and canoeing. For more information, here’s the official website. But this year we’re looking for someplace/something new.

Fall Fund Raiser

Our primary troop fundraiser of the year is wreath sales in time for the holidays. Scouts sign up to sell as many Christmas wreaths as they want, and each sale helps contribute to keeping our expenses as low as possible..

December

Winter Holiday Party

This year we’ll be making use of the climbing instructors and indoor climbing wall at the SF Bay Area Council’s training facility.

January

Snow Camping

Here’s a camp for the hard-core scouts and adults. Come learn to build a snow cave near Wolfeboro! This one counts for the toughest requirement of the Wilderness Survival merit badge.

February

Family Ski Weekend

Every year we give our families the opportunity to share a condo and enjoy a weekend of skiing and other winter activies.

Troop Shoot

We’ve been holding a .22 rifle “troop shoot” and gun safety event at Chabot Gun Club, since 2012. The shoot gives the scouts, and a few guests, the opportunity to learn how to handle a rifle more safely, range safety and etiquette, and to have a good time honing their marksmanship in a professionally supervised environment.

March

Pasta Dinner and Dessert Auction Fundraiser

Our second annual Pasta Dinner Fundraiser will be our biggest fundraiser of the year. We are looking forward to another fantastic, gourmet dinner experience. And don't forget about the super-intense, competitive Dessert Auction following the dinner.

Spring Scout Campout

This year, we’re going to try Muir Woods.

April

Camporee

Camporee is held at Lake Berryessa and is a multi-Troop competitive/cooperative campout.

May

Spring Family Camping

This year we’ll be camping at Coyote Hills near the eastern end of the Dunbarton Bridge.

June

End of the Year Celebration

We wind up our usual scouting activities with a family potluck/bbq at the Herms facility in the hills behind Albany.

Summer Scout Camping Week

This is the high point of the scouting year…a whole week of camping, hiking, and merit badges at our Council’s mountain facility, Camp Wolfeboro!
